June Coach Spotlight - Isaac Steidinger

Where do you coach?

I am currently the Athletic Director / Assistant Principal at Lexington School District.

How long have you coached?

I have coached basketball for 10 years at various school districts and levels.

What is your primary sport to coach?

Basketball

How long have you been involved in FCA? This completes my 3rd year as huddle leader at Kingsley Junior High in Normal, IL..

Why/How did you get involved in FCA? When I was a student-athlete at Prairie Central High School, I had the opportunity to lead the huddle with some friends from various youth groups.

How has FCA helped you to know and grow in Christ? Public Education and faith do not always go hand in hand and it can be tricky navigating those waters. FCA has always been an opportunity to help bridge that gap for me. When I was a student-athlete, watching other coaches lead with integrity had an impact on who I was as a student-athlete, and eventually as a coach. The opportunity to be a part of FCA has taught me and held me accountable to being a Coach for Christ.

What legacy do you hope to leave as a coach?  "Who you are today, affects who you become tomorrow." We all make hundreds of decisions on a daily basis; both in athletics and in life. Each decision that we make has the opportunity to impact the person or athlete that we become whether it be good or bad. My prayer is that through leadership and relationships, the athletes I have been able to influence will consider their integrity and all that it means. I'm thankful that the blood of Christ covers our mistakes but I'm hopeful that the life and ministry of Christ will compel us to consider our choices and actions carefully as we move forward.

What is your favorite Bible verse?  "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him and He will make your paths straight." ~ Proverbs 3:5-6
